WHAT MATTRESS IS RIGHT FOR ME?Every person has unique needs
when it comes to finding the correct mattress comfort level that is
right for you. Comfort & Support are the two main factors that
should be considered when selecting a new mattress set.
If you're in the Rochester area, the best way to start your mattress
shopping experience is to come in to our showroom and comfort test the
different mattresses we have on display.
Take your time and lay on them in the position you normally sleep in.
Memory Foam Mattresses
Memory foam mattresses have a high enough density for providing good support and excellent pressure relief.
Firm Mattresses
Firm mattresses have the least amount of
padding of all of the comfort selections and provide the support of a
solid sleep surface.
Plush Mattresses
Plush mattresses have
multiple layers of padding offering a sleep surface that is softer and
more luxurious than a “firm” mattress.
Pillow Top Mattresses
Pillow Top mattresses offer the multiple
layers of padding provided by a “plush” mattress plus an extra
“pillow-top” layer of padding integrated on top of the mattress.
Pillow-Top mattresses are typically the softest and most luxurious of all the different comfort levels available.
Euro Top Mattresses
Euro Top mattresses have an additional layer of upholstery at the top to create a soft and luxurious sleep surface.
The
Euro Top model has slightly different tailoring than a Pillow Top which
gives it a more structured look, and often a firmer feel.
WHEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY CURRENT MATTRESS?The “shelf life” of a mattress depends on several factors such as
usage, quality and even your own changing comfort and support
preferences. In general, a mattress set that has been in use for five to
seven years may no longer provide proper comfort & support, and
should be evaluated. A scientific study from Oklahoma State University,
“Subjective Rating of Perceived Back Pain, Stiffness and Sleep Quality
Following Introduction of Medium-Firm Bedding Systems,” found that
participants with mattresses five years old or older reported
significant improvements in sleep quality and
comfort when sleeping on a new mattress, regardless of the sleeper’s age
or weight.
So it is important to compare the mattress and boxspring/foundation
you are sleeping on now to newer models every few years. After all, a
new mattress can make the difference in how you feel and function each
and every day and help you start your day off right.
